From Pine Knob to Priest: A Tribute to My Husband’s Passion

Daily writing prompt
What was the last live performance you saw?

The last live performance I saw with my husband was Judas Priest, September 16, 2021. This was a little over a month before my husband suddenly and unexpectedly passed away. He was an avid music aficionado. He was also a passionate guitarist. His life was deeply intertwined with the rhythms and melodies of countless bands. He had seen many groups perform at Pine Knob, where he grew up. However, this was his first time witnessing Judas Priest. At the time, it was just another concert. It has since taken on profound significance.

Looking back, that night wasn’t just about the music. It was a final shared experience. It was an echo of joy and energy that now lives within me. The healing process over the years has been a journey—one filled with grief, reflection, and ultimately, gratitude. Music, which once felt like an unbearable reminder of loss, gradually became a source of comfort again. It’s in those melodies, those guitar riffs, that I still feel his presence, his passion, and the love we shared.
