Everyone’s career path starts somewhere—sometimes in unexpected places. For me, it began in the blueberry fields of rural Michigan, hands stained deep purple from harvesting fruit for a local farmer. It wasn’t glamorous, but it taught me the value of hard work and perseverance at a young age.
From there, I shifted into babysitting for our next-door neighbors and family, learning patience, responsibility, and problem-solving—skills that would become invaluable throughout my career.
My first professional role came through the CETA program, where I worked as a secretary assistant in the Newaygo County Community Education Consortium. This opportunity opened doors to the world of administration and communications, setting the foundation for what would become a decades-long journey.
Since then, my career has evolved through a variety of roles, each sharpening my skills and deepening my experience:
- Secretary & Administrative Roles: I spent years providing support and structure to various organizations, including Newaygo County Community Education and Hesperia Community Schools. This work refined my ability to manage schedules, assist with grant writing, and provide exceptional customer service.
- Collections Clerk: In the 27th Circuit Court, I handled customer accounts with precision, collaborating with legal teams and financial departments to resolve complex cases.
- Sole Proprietor: As the owner of Whispering Willow, LLC, I now offer proofreading and editing services, notary assistance, and creative writing. This venture allows me to combine my professional expertise with my passion for storytelling.
Throughout my career, I’ve built a reputation for strong communication, organizational efficiency, and a dedication to community service. Whether supporting school districts, legal offices, or businesses, I’ve embraced roles that require adaptability, problem-solving, and a commitment to excellence.
Looking ahead, I seek to continue making an impact—whether through marketing, communications, or community engagement. The experiences I’ve gathered, from picking blueberries to mentoring peers, have shaped me into a dynamic professional ready for new challenges.
