“Under all her anger, there’s a girl who never understood why she got treated so bad when she gave everyone in her life everything.”
These words poured out of me recently—unfiltered, tired, and true. The girl they speak of is still here. She’s the one who showed up with open arms and no judgment. She’s the one who held sobbing faces and cleaned messes she didn’t create. She’s the one who offered grace where others handed her grief.
Since my husband passed away in 2021, life has cracked open in ways I never saw coming. My heart, which once held space for so many, was left bruised by those closest to me—my own children and their partners. I offered shelter, stability, and unconditional love. In return, I faced betrayal, destruction, theft, and the kind of heartbreak that leaves you questioning everything.
They were hurting, yes. But so was I. And yet I became the landing pad for everyone else’s crash while no one saw my wounds.
I am still standing. But I am also still aching. And I am tired of pretending that betrayal doesn’t burn when it comes wearing familiar faces.
Letting go of anger is not easy. It’s a process I’m still learning—like trying to unlearn how to flinch. But here’s what I know: Anger is often just grief in armor. And behind mine lives a girl who still longs to be treated gently.
If you’ve been where I’ve been—used, dismissed, violated, forgotten—I want you to know: You didn’t deserve it. Your generosity wasn’t a weakness. Your love wasn’t wasted.
We deserve to heal on our own terms. To take our anger, cradle it like the wounded bird it is, and slowly teach it to fly away. Not because they earned forgiveness. But because we deserve peace.
🫖 What do we do with hearts broken by those we loved most? We write. We cry. We plant gardens. We pray. And slowly, we let the Willow remind us: There is still beauty in bending—but we no longer need to break.
Until next time, Michelle 🌳💔🌿🕊

The Girl Who Gave Everything
By Michelle Allen
She opened her door with trembling hands,
Let broken hearts cross sacred lands.
She offered light when theirs grew dim,
And gave away her every limb.
Her voice was balm, her arms a rest,
She bore their storms within her chest.
And when their damage cracked her walls,
She swept the glass and stood up tall.
She prayed them whole, she planned their way,
She handed hope most every day.
But still they took, and still they burned,
While love and trust were never returned.
Now silence hums in rooms once loud,
The heirlooms gone, the dreams unbowed.
Yet underneath the shards and ash,
A woman rises from the crash.
She is not rage, though fire passed through—
She is the ache and healing too.
No longer bending past her core,
She closes windows, locks the door.
Not out of hate, but out of grace,
She chooses now a safer place.
To guard the light she used to give
And teach herself again to live.
For still beneath the anger’s flame
She holds a soul too pure to shame.
And still she hopes—though scarred and bruised—
That love, once whole, won’t be misused.
