🌿 Introducing The Willow Lodge: A Place to Breathe Again

By Michelle Allen

There’s a quiet patch of woods behind my home—twenty acres of trees that have listened to my grief, held my hope, and whispered back dreams I thought I’d lost.

For years, this land has been a place of healing. And now, I’m ready to share it.

I’m building something called The Willow Lodge—a rustic, soul-soothing retreat tucked into the heart of Oceana County. It’s more than a short-term rental. It’s a space for restoration. For reconnection. For remembering who you are when the world gets too loud.

The cottage is modest, and renovations are just beginning. We haven’t gathered many supplies yet, but we’re moving forward with heart and hands—my son and boyfriend are helping with labor, and we’re using what we have to start shaping the space. Donations of extra lumber, renovation materials, or gently used fixtures would be deeply appreciated as we bring this vision to life.

We’re also working to repair the main home on the property—updating the front entrance deck, replacing the roof, and refreshing the interior—so the entire space feels cohesive and welcoming. Eventually, we hope to offer overflow lodging in two rooms of the home and create a walking trail through the woods for guests to explore.

💛 Rooted in Local Love

Each guest at The Willow Lodge will receive a welcome basket filled with thoughtful touches—handwritten notes, seasonal treats, and items that reflect the spirit of our region. Our hope is to introduce visitors to the flavors, makers, and stories of Oceana County.

We’ll be encouraging guests to shop local, dine local, and explore nearby towns—because this isn’t just about creating a retreat. It’s about nurturing the community that surrounds it.

✨ How You Can Help

We’re currently seeking support to move this project forward. If you feel called to contribute, here are a few ways to help:

  • Donate renovation supplies (lumber, paint, fixtures, tools)
  • Share connections to local businesses, tourism groups, or funding opportunities
  • Offer guidance on licensing, small business setup, or marketing
  • Help amplify this story by sharing it with others who believe in rural renewal and soulful spaces

I’ll be sharing more details in the coming days about my full vision for The Willow Lodge—including the guest experience, seasonal offerings, and how this space will reflect the heart of Whispering Willow.

Thank you for being here at the beginning. Your support, your encouragement, and your belief mean everything.

With love and hope,

Michelle Allen Founder, Whispering Willow Host, The Willow Lodge

Our Vision — Before and After

Before: The Beginning of Renewal This little house has stood quietly for years—weathered, worn, and waiting. Beneath the peeling paint and scattered pieces is a space full of potential, rooted in memory and surrounded by nature’s embrace.
It’s not just a renovation. It’s a reclamation. Of purpose. Of peace. Of possibility.
Welcome to the first glimpse of what will become The Willow Lodge—a place to breathe again. 🌿
After: A Place to Breathe Again From worn to welcoming, this space has come alive with intention. Every board replaced, every corner refreshed, every detail chosen with care.
This isn’t just a renovation—it’s a reflection of healing, hospitality, and second chances.
Welcome to The Willow Lodge—where stories are honored, peace is invited, and guests are reminded that beauty can rise from the quiet. 🌿
