If I could bring back just one dinosaur, I wouldn’t choose the biggest or the fiercest. I’d choose the one with heart.
I imagine a gentle Maiasaura—whose name means “Good Mother Lizard”—nuzzling her young in a quiet nest. Not the star of Hollywood thrillers, but a humble herbivore who reminds us that care and connection existed long before humans walked the earth.
She’d come back not to roar, but to remind us that nurturing is ancient. That instinct runs deep. That family—whether scaled, feathered, or skin-bound—has always mattered.
I think about how we rebuild our homes, our stories, our second chances. About how healing often begins in the smallest spaces. A whisper, not a roar. And maybe this dinosaur would walk with us through forests and memory, reminding us that softness is strength, too.
So no, I wouldn’t resurrect a predator. I’d resurrect grace. In the form of a creature that once kept watch over her young and left behind a fossilized legacy of love.
What dinosaur would you bring back—and what would you ask it to teach you?
