There’s something magical about how each part of the day carries its own rhythm, energy, and emotion. For some, it’s the quiet hush of early morning—coffee in hand, sunlight stretching across the kitchen table. For others, it’s the golden hour, when the world softens and everything feels a little more poetic. And then there are the night owls, who come alive when the stars do.
At Whispering Willow Kitchen, mornings often start with the scent of cinnamon rolls rising in the oven and a checklist of party prep waiting to be tackled. But over at Whispering Willow Lodge, my dream-in-progress, I imagine evenings filled with porch swings, fireflies, and guests winding down under a canopy of trees.
☕ Morning Reflections: My Favorite Time of Day
There’s something sacred about mornings—the hush before the world fully wakes, the warmth of coffee in hand, and the gentle rhythm of reflection. For me, mornings on the back porch are more than routine. They’re a ritual. A moment to breathe in the stillness, look back on yesterday, and wonder what today might bring.
I especially cherish the mornings I spent with Dan, my love. Just being by his side, sipping coffee together, wrapped in quiet conversation or shared silence—it was peace in its purest form. The last two winters we spent together, whether in Michigan or Oklahoma, were filled with those slow, meaningful starts to the day. But this year looks a little different. Neither of our vehicles is up for the long trek, so we find ourselves in a kind of limbo—apart physically, but never in heart.
Even from a distance, our love doesn’t waver. It stretches across miles like sunlight through the trees—constant, warm, and grounding. And while I miss those porch mornings with him deeply, I carry them with me. In every sip, in every sunrise, in every quiet moment of hope.
So I’m curious: What’s your favorite time of day—and why? Is it when the world is just waking up, or when it’s winding down? Share in the comments—I’d love to hear what part of the day speaks to you most.
