Who Do You Spend the Most Time With? Why It Matters

Who Do You Spend the Most Time With? Why It Matters

The people we surround ourselves with shape our thoughts, emotions, and even our dreams. Have you ever stopped to think about who you spend the most time with—and how they influence your life?

The Power of Your Circle

Jim Rohn once said, “You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.” And while that might not be an exact science, it does highlight an important truth—the people in our daily lives can either lift us up or hold us back.

Are the people around you positive, encouraging, and inspiring?

Do they challenge you to be better, or do they drain your energy?

Are you surrounded by dreamers, doers, and people who genuinely care about your happiness?

Who Holds a Special Place in Your Life?

Think about the people you spend time with—whether it’s family, close friends, coworkers, or mentors. Are these the relationships that fuel your passion, bring joy, and help you grow?

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Family: The ones who’ve known you the longest, shaping your values and always offering love (even if imperfectly).

👯 Friends: The people who laugh with you, cry with you, and stand beside you through life’s highs and lows.

👩‍💻 Coworkers: If work takes up a huge chunk of your time, these relationships can deeply affect your mood and mindset.

👩‍🏫 Mentors & Role Models: Those who encourage you to reach higher, think bigger, and push beyond your limits.

Does Your Inner Circle Reflect Who You Want to Be?

If the people you spend time with don’t align with your goals and values, maybe it’s time to rethink your circle. Seek out friendships and connections that inspire you, and distance yourself from toxic relationships that hold you back. Life is too short to be surrounded by negativity!

Final Reflection: Who Do You Want to Spend More Time With?

Now that you’ve thought about your current circle, ask yourself: Who would you love to spend MORE time with? Whether it’s deepening existing friendships, reconnecting with loved ones, or making space for new, inspiring relationships, your inner circle has the power to shape your future.

Take a moment to reflect—who truly deserves a seat at your table?

The People Who Shape Our Lives

At 61, life has given me many roles to play—a mother, a grandmother, a widow, and now someone rediscovering love in a way I never expected. Each relationship in my life has its own unique depth and meaning, shaping who I am today.

Reconnecting with Love

Spending time with my high school sweetheart after 40 years apart has been an incredible journey. We’ve grown, changed, and become different people than we once were, yet somehow, the connection remains. It’s been important for both of us to rediscover each other, not just as the teenagers we once were, but as the adults shaped by life, love, loss, and resilience.

The Love of Family

Even in the excitement of rekindled love, nothing compares to the cherished time spent with my children and grandchildren. They are my heart, my laughter, and my greatest joy. Being away from them is bittersweet—I miss them immensely—but I know that every moment together is precious, whether near or far.

Who We Spend Time With Matters

Every stage of life brings new people, new experiences, and new priorities. Right now, my time is spent balancing love, family, and the memories of what once was—while embracing the beauty of what’s still ahead.

Who do you spend the most time with, and how have they shaped your journey?
