Discovering What’s Good in Myself

For a long time, I wasn’t sure I even liked myself. I couldn’t see anything special, anything worth admiring. It took years—life, loss, love, and lessons—to realize that maybe it was never about who I am, but about what I do.

The Power of Action Over Identity

I spent years believing I had to be a certain way to be worthy—prettier, skinnier, stronger, more confident, more certain. But the truth is, what defines me isn’t perfection, self-assurance or appearance—it’s resilience, kindness, and the way I keep showing up, even when life is heavy.

I may not fit into the world’s narrow expectations. I’m not the tallest, the most striking, the kind of person who turns heads when they walk into a room—but that has never defined my worth. I may not have always loved myself, but I’ve always tried to:

Be someone people can count on.

Support others, even when I’m struggling myself.

Push forward, even when I don’t feel strong.

Hold onto love, even after loss.

Maybe my favorite thing about myself isn’t one specific trait. It isn’t the reflection in the mirror either. Maybe it’s the way I love, the way I keep going, and the way I try to make the world a little better—even when I don’t always feel like I belong in it.

Learning to See the Good

So, when asked, “What’s your favorite thing about yourself?” I still hesitate. I don’t have a neat, confident answer. But I do know this: I may not always see my worth, but I try to create it in the way I care, in the way I fight for others, and in the way I keep moving forward.

And maybe that’s enough.

      1. It holds such a high value and is easily lost sometimes when the storm is crashing, but we learn 🙂
