Reflections from the Willow

Thereās a kind of love that doesnāt loosen over time. A tether that stretches beyond the veil, where presence becomes memory and memory becomes breath. Someone recently wrote, āThe pain will never go away… and in a way, I’m glad. Because it helps me honor her in the way she deserves.ā
That quiet truth hit me deep.
Grief isnāt something to get past. Itās something we carryānot because weāre broken, but because we loved with everything in us. The pain isn’t the enemy. Itās the echo of connection that refuses to be silenced. And some days, it needs to be feltānot managed, not suppressed, not tidied up for the comfort of othersābut felt. In the tears. In the ache. In the sacred remembering.
To love someone so deeply that their absence becomes part of your heartbeatāthat is a testament. That is a vow that outlives the ceremony.
So no, youāre not failing by feeling. Youāre honoring. Youāre keeping the promise of love alive in your marrow. Thereās no shame in that kind of ache. Only reverence.
If you’re reading this today and your grief still stings as sharply as the day it began, please know: that pain is the proof of how deeply you loved. And how deeply you still do.
With you in all the layers, āMichelle Reflections from the Willow
