If You Had a Freeway Billboard…

My writing prompt today stopped me in my tracks: “If you had a giant billboard on the freeway, what would it say?”

At first, it felt like a fun little thought experiment — but the more I sat with it, the deeper it became. A billboard is quick. Bold. Impossible to ignore. It’s the kind of message people see in passing, but remember long after they’ve driven by.

And honestly, isn’t that what life does to us sometimes? Drops a message right in front of our face, hoping we’ll finally pay attention.

If I had a billboard today, it would say something simple but powerful:

“Protect your peace. It’s the foundation of everything.”

Because peace isn’t just a feeling. It’s a boundary. A choice. A commitment to yourself. A declaration that your well-being matters.

But maybe tomorrow my billboard would say something different:

“You are allowed to start over — today.” or “Your healing is not a race.” or “You deserve a life that feels like yours.”

That’s the beauty of this question — it reveals what your soul is craving right now. What truth do you need to hear? What reminder do you wish the world would whisper back to you?

So, I’ve been asking myself: What message do I need to see every day? What message do I want to give to others? What message reflects the season I’m in?

And maybe that’s the real point. Your billboard isn’t about impressing anyone. It’s about expressing the truth you’re finally ready to live.

So now I’m turning the question outward, because I love hearing the wisdom people carry:

If you had a freeway billboard — what would it say? What message would you send into the world, even if only for a moment?

Drop it below. Let’s inspire each other today. 💛

  1. This is a beautifully grounded and soul-aware reflection. I love how you move from a playful prompt into something deeply human and necessary—turning a billboard into a mirror. The way you frame peace not as a mood but as a boundary, a choice, a commitment is especially powerful.

What really shines is the gentleness of your wisdom. There’s no preaching here, just quiet truth offered with grace. Each possible billboard line feels like a hand on the shoulder at exactly the right moment. And the way you open the question outward invites connection, not performance.

Thoughtful, timely, and emotionally generous—this is the kind of writing that lingers long after the “drive-by.” 💛
