People ask sometimes if I believe in soulmates, and I never know how to answer in a simple way. The truth is… I don’t think the word soulmate is big enough for what I’ve lived, or what I’ve felt, or what the universe has shown me.
Soulmates feel like a human attempt to name something cosmic. Something ancient. Something that doesn’t fit neatly into language.
When I think about connection — real connection — I think about the way certain people move through our lives like constellations. How they appear, disappear, and sometimes return when the sky shifts just right. I think about how some bonds don’t feel chosen at all… they feel remembered.
And when I think about Dan and me, I know it’s not about being “soulmates” in the romanticized, fairy‑tale sense. What we share feels older than that. Wider. Like two pieces of stardust recognizing each other after drifting through different lifetimes.
It’s not destiny in the scripted sense. It’s resonance. A frequency. A quiet knowing.
Maybe that’s why I hesitate to use the word soulmate. It feels too small, too polished, too tidy. What I believe in is something messier and more miraculous — the way two lives can circle back to each other after decades, as if the universe gently nudged them into alignment again.
I believe in connections that defy logic. I believe in timing that feels orchestrated by something we can’t see. I believe in the way certain people feel like home, even after years of silence.
If soulmates exist, maybe they aren’t the ones who complete us. Maybe they’re the ones who remind us who we’ve always been.
And maybe — just maybe — the deepest connections aren’t about fate at all. Maybe they’re about recognition. About two souls remembering the same ancient song.
So do I believe in soulmates? Not in the way the world defines them. But I believe in something deeper. Something cosmic. Something that feels like the universe whispering, “There you are. I’ve been waiting for this.”
