If Emperor Palpatine is suddenly pretending to care about democracy, then fine — let him have his little election. He can nominate Darth Vader all he wants. I’m nominating someone who actually understands leadership.
Princess Leia.
Not because she’s royalty, but because she’s the kind of steady flame that refuses to go out, even when the whole galaxy feels cold. She leads with clarity instead of fear, compassion instead of control. She’s the kind of leader who rebuilds what others destroy — and she does it with her chin lifted and her heart unshaken.
And maybe I’m biased. Maybe it’s because I have a granddaughter named Leia — a tiny force of her own, full of spark and stubborn hope. When I think of the kind of galaxy I’d want her to grow up in, it’s one led by someone who believes in people, not power.
But because every election needs a little comic relief, I’m also putting R2‑D2 on the ticket as her running mate. The galaxy’s most competent employee deserves a promotion. He’s saved more lives than Vader has choked, and he does it all while beeping sassily and rolling away before anyone can argue.
Leia for Emperor. R2‑D2 for Vice Emperor. A leadership team built on resilience, rebellion, and just enough chaos to keep the Sith nervous.
