A Willow Lodge Reflection
There’s a question that drifts through my life like a soft echo: What’s your biggest dream? Not the polite one. Not the one you shrink down so it fits neatly into conversation. I mean the real one — the one that rises up when the world finally quiets and you can hear your own soul speaking plainly.
For me, that dream has always been about building a place where people can breathe, rebuild, and begin again.
🌿 The Willow Lodge
I see it clearly now — a long gravel drive, a warm light glowing through old wooden beams, the smell of coffee drifting from a kitchen that has heard a thousand stories. A place where people can come during the hardest transitions of their lives and find rest, guidance, and the courage to start over.
But this dream isn’t mine alone anymore. It’s something I’m building with Dan.
🌿 A Partner in the Dream
Dan has been a steady presence through some of the most difficult chapters of my life — even from a thousand miles away. He’s walked with me through the rebuilding, the reimagining, the quiet moments when I wasn’t sure what came next. And now, he’s part of this vision in a way that feels natural, grounded, and deeply supportive.
He doesn’t just cheer from the sidelines. He wants to help. He wants to be part of the work, the planning, the dreaming, the doing.
There’s something powerful about having a partner who sees your dream and says, I’m here. Let’s build it together.
🌿 Phase One: The Airbnb
Dreams grow in phases, and ours begins with something humble and full of possibility: The Willow Lodge as an Airbnb.
A place where travelers can rest. Where families can reconnect. Where someone passing through Michigan can feel held by the quiet beauty of the woods.
This first phase is how we’ll begin funding the larger vision — the community space, the mentorship programs, the creative workshops, the healing environment. It’s the seed that will grow into something bigger.
And Dan will be part of every step — from the early renovations to the late-night planning sessions, from the practical decisions to the moments where we pause and remember why we’re doing this.
🌿 Why This Dream Matters
I chose this dream because I know what it feels like to rebuild from the ground up. Dan chose it because he believes in the power of second chances — for himself, for me, for anyone who walks through the doors of The Willow Lodge.
Together, we’re creating a place where people can find their footing again. A place shaped by resilience, partnership, and the quiet strength of two people who refuse to give up on themselves or each other.
