Living in rural Michigan, there aren’t many restaurant options nearby, so it’s hard to choose a local favorite there. However, in Oklahoma, where we spend part of our time, the choices seem endless! We definitely haven’t tried them all yet, but we already have a few favorite places that keep us coming back.
If I had to pick one restaurant that we visit most often, it would probably be Carl’s Jr. It may not be a fancy dining destination, but it’s become one of our favorite neighborhood spots. Almost every Friday night, Dan and I enjoy a simple date night there. We take advantage of their burger special, and I can never resist their amazing fried zucchini, which is one of my favorite menu items.
The evening usually doesn’t end there. After dinner, we often stop by Braum’s for ice cream. It’s become a fun little tradition that we both look forward to each week.
Of course, Carl’s Jr. isn’t our only favorite. We also love going out for Chinese food or Mexican cuisine whenever we’re in the mood for something different. And on busy nights when we just want to stay home, Domino’s is our go-to choice for pizza, wings, and their delicious chocolate lava cakes, which are the perfect sweet treat after dinner.
While I can’t honestly say what the best restaurant in the city is, I can say that Carl’s Jr. has become one of our personal favorites because of the memories we’ve made there and the simple Friday night tradition we’ve created together. Sometimes the best restaurant isn’t the fanciest one, it’s the place that feels like home.
