I’ve never been a “jump out of bed and conquer the world” kind of person.
My mornings start slowly, and honestly, I like it that way.
Most days begin with a good stretch before my feet even hit the floor. Nothing intense, just enough to wake up my muscles and remind my body that it’s time to start moving. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve learned that a few minutes of stretching can make a big difference for the rest of the day.
Next comes the most important part of the morning:
Coffee.
Before the emails, before the to-do lists, and definitely before dealing with anything complicated, there is coffee. It’s less about the caffeine and more about the ritual. That first warm cup is my signal that a new day is beginning.
Once I’m settled in with my coffee, I spend some time writing. Sometimes it’s journaling, sometimes it’s brainstorming ideas for future blog posts, and sometimes it’s simply getting thoughts out of my head and onto paper. Writing helps me organize my mind before the day’s distractions begin.
I also like to take a few moments to plan my day. As a college student, mentor, blogger, and someone who somehow always has multiple projects going at once, having a plan helps me stay focused and keeps me from feeling overwhelmed.
The truth is, my morning routine isn’t glamorous. There are no ice baths, 5 a.m. workouts, or motivational speeches in the mirror.
Just stretching, coffee, writing, planning, and a little quiet before the rest of the world wakes up.
And honestly?
That’s exactly the way I like it.
